Mental Arithmetic, book 5

Another day started with some mental work. My son flew through Test 6 from his Mental Arithmetic Book 5, not afraid of percentages, triangle angles and some strange looking "Pi". This book is still dealing with Key Stage 2 issues, however, I can hardly see his peers being able to solve many of these problems.

It's almost the end of spring term at school, and time startes running quickly. If your child goes for 11 plus exam, you do need to spend lots of time to fill in any gaps in knowledge.

My son usually does some shorter tests in the morning, before school, when he is still alert and had a good night sleep. He finishes them off after school. On Saturdays, when we have more time, he usually startes his day with English test, taking notes of any new words he comes across.

He did some verbal reasoning test yesterday and was very pleased to achieve 93%. From my experience, I can advise you to start exposing your child to these tests as early as possible, because you have to learn the technique of solving them accurately, within the time limit.
