Do you need a private tutor?

Whether you need a tutor or not, it all depends on a few things:
  • whether you are able to help your child yourself (are you confident about your math and English skills)
  • whether you have time to sit down and explain unknown facts
  • wthere you have patience and desire to teach your own child
And the most important question that you should ask your child is: " Do you want to go for 11+ exam? "
This question is very important, as depends on the answer, you will know what steps to take. First of all, be critical about your expectations.
  1.  Is your child really able to achieve, but is a bit lazy and needs a push?
  2. or isn't s/he clever enough, but it's your great ambition to place your child in grammar school?
Think about the answers. I honestly don't think there is much sense in forcing somebody to study hard for the exam, if you are sure, the person is not able to pass. It just adds to the stress and frustration, but if you think your child is capable of working and acquiring knowledge, then go for it!
